mariposas

Just some sweet Costa Rica nostalgia for this cloudy (in my neck of the woods at least) Monday afternoon.

These pictures remind me of how unique and special this time was. They makes me think of how important travel is to me and  how I develop as a person and view the world around me.

Most of all, I'm missing my tribe today. So so much.

weekend snapshots.

I wanted to share a little bit of my weekend. So here it goes! Saturday was filled with a morning working at a pretty new yoga studio in town massaging in their spa room. That night I took some pictures for my dear friend's dad's 50th birthday celebration. It took place at a beach front property and the party started just as the sun was beginning to set. I was one happy girl getting to shoot and was thankful my friend's mom was so accommodating to have me.

A couple of you have asked if I take the pictures on my blog. I do! But I'm an amateur and just love any opportunity to practice.

It was nice to kick back with friends as the party slowed down. These are some of the first girls I met back in high school after moving from Pennsylvania to South Carolina. They made the transition worlds easier. I'm on the far right. Hey hey hey.

I had to include this- the party cake! A lot of the birthday guy's family and friends said the cake fit his personality to a tee. Boy was it delicious! It was a total riot hearing the 50+ people in the space discussing the art of cake making. We're all professionals after watching Cake Boss. "Oh, fondant! Yes, yes, look how they used the fondant!"

Back at home x2 (boyfriend's house and my family's house) there was a weekend full of pet lovin'. Here is Sam and his buddy Oakley right before bed. On the right is my youngest brother Eric working on his psychology project- training Jenny. AKA the who is training who project.

Then Sunday. Ah, Sunday. Activities included sleeping in, time in the sun, a stop into Five Guys, an afternoon frisbee game with a group of Sam's friends, lots of Whopper candy eggs, photo editing, and a dye job.

It's been the most relaxing holiday weekend. I wouldn't have had it any other way.

bits of spring.

What I'm loving:
1. Massaging working at two yoga studios (and trades!)
2. Beach walks before the season picks up with Jenny (see #6)
3. Taking pictures for the local Coccadotts Bakery's visit from the Easter Bunny
4. A visit from my dad to see my brother in Charleston at school...where we do things like this on a plantation
5. Sam (boyfriend) and Tux's friendship
6. Jenny, the most spoiled, thinks she's human, goes to the beach four times a week kind of Sheltie
7. (unpictured) Half price sushi Monday at Salt Water Creek, one of my favorite restaurants
8. Gotye's Hearts a Mess on repeat. Really anything by Gotye right now, old and new

number one

Hi! Thanks for stopping by My Sweet Potato.  If you've clicked over from Tumblr, I appreciate you making the move with me. As much as I love Tumblr and how easy it truly makes blogging, MSP needed a little change and wiggle room. I really missed a lot of the interaction with readers hosts like Blogger and Wordpress offer. So hopefully this is the right fit and I'm here to stay! My Tumblr is still up if you would like to take a peek! I started it in 2010 during my sophmore year in college (and has life shifted since then!). I love blogging so so much. It's the perfect way to store all the moments I'd hate to forget as things keep on changing.

If you're here for the first time, let me introduce myself.
I'm Annie AKA sweet potato.
I can be slow to warm up in person and am quite the introvert.
Clearly my #1 childhood desire to be an actress (besides meeting the Hanson brothers).
I spent a couple of years losing my way in the desert in school for psychology,
but found myself again in the jungles of Costa Rica for massage therapy.
My favorite way to spend my time is with a camera in hand or with my toes in the sand.

I'll let my favorites speak for themselves:

I'm slowly learning my way around Blogger but if you have any tips send them my way!
For example, any suggestions on how to make sure pictures are center aligned? When I hover over the pictures it says they're centered but actually aren't. Gurus?

Last but not least, I'm so happy that you're here.
